Speech Choir

Caged Bird
BY MAYA ANGELOU
The free bird leaps on the back of the wind
and floats downstream till the current ends
and dips his wing in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.
As we prepare for our speech choir and practiced for some weeks, in our first week our minds were blocked we weren't producing any steps for our speech choir.
But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage
can seldom see through his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.
As days passed we decided to memorize the poem first before coming up with our choreography, we practiced step by step we were making improvements in a slow pace but we surely thought of it to make our speech choir beautiful.
The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom.
Days and nights were sacrificed for this speech choir time was sacrificed for practicing specially mine i usually go gym or work out after class but i put that aside first just for the competition
The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn
and he names the sky his own
As when the competition started the ABMA students were giving us haymaker after haymaker props to them for making the speech choir hard to judge, as we were watching the sections. Our thoughts was we wont have a place on the top 3 winner.
But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.
So we just thought of having fun and delivering our speech choir because we worked hard and made sacrifices so as of the results.
The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom.
We reigned 1st runner up, we are blessed that god helped us on winning 1st runner up props to everyone for cooperating and lastly ms Nina for supporting us all through out. I am thankful for being able to experience the last term of the english term thank you! ERC.
